A day at the beach

Slammers

Last weekend, George's Under 16 Girls Slammers Soccer Team won the State Championship. This is their 5th State Championship in a row! This has only been done in the history of Cal South Soccer 2 other times so it is a huge accomplishment for the girls and for George. They have won each State Cup since Irelyn has been born so she is like their little mascot. She got a medal at the awards ceremony and you can just see her excitement in this picture. We are so proud of George and his team!

Now on to Regionals!

TK Burgers MV

We've been anxiously awaiting the opening of TK Burgers and through the grapevine I heard it was opening tomorrow. But it was today! So, out for burgers we went...of course we brought along some willing volunteers. :) We really enjoyed our meal.. it was so weird being inside the same building we used to eat KFC at while growing up. One of the women working there said the Grand Opening is next week. I highly suggest you go try it... the special sauce and secret fry seasonings are yummy.
Here is a link to the article in the OC Register

Family Priorities

Last week at our MOPS meeting, we discussed Family Priorities.
This list was in one of our books to use as a guide:
1. Personal Relationship with God. This is separate from church activities.
2. Marriage. Keep working at making this relationship better.
3. Children. Be intentional about balancing activities. Focus on playing as well as training.
4. Home management and job. Home life is more effectively balanced when mom and dad work together to keep the home running smoothly and the bills paid.
5. Ministry. After all the above priorities are managed successfully and if there is any time or energy left, then outside ministry or volunteer work is an option.

We each made our priority list and shared if we were comfortable. Obvioulsy, balance is important- too much of one doesn't leave enough time for another....

Mom and Dad

I'm not sure the exact day that I started to appreciate my parents, but I do know that I wish that day had come sooner. My parents are 2 very special people. They like to have fun, laugh, go to the movies, go to Disneyland, and spend time with their kids and grandkids. There isn't anything they wouldn't do for someone they love. I have learned so much from them and I hope they know how much I love them.

My Dad was so proud of this score. There is the top of Irelyn's head next to him.

My Mom's 3rd cast and her fancy "Casttoos"
What makes your parents special? (yes, that is the same question I asked my preschoolers- heehee.) But shouldn't we all answer and reflect on that question?
